A LATE 15TH CENTURY HORSEMAN'S HAMMER, the square section turreted hammer head with a band on inlaid copper decoration, the opposing tapering square section fluke decorated with a double copper chevron design to match, the studded side bands and tapering square section spike finial of later construction, original elongated reinforcing straps, the wooden haft pierced with a copper lined thong hole, the butt with chevron decorated spike finial. The hammer head and fluke of 15th Century construction, the remainder professionally reconstructed. Provenance: A gentleman
