Lot 308 of 714: A RARE VIKING PERIOD PATTERN WELDED AND INLAID SWORD CIRCA 900, 75.25cm fullered blade, characteristic hilt of Petersen Type H form, inlaid to the cross guard with geometric designs and inverted swastika forms, the triangular form pommel with oblong plinth decorated to match. A similar sword was lent to the Metropolitan Museum of Art by Laird Landmann and Kathleen Kinney (accession number L.2008.29.2). That particular sword was marked with the name of its maker Hartolfr.
