Lot 405 of 530: A GEORGIAN SILVER MOUNTED CAVALRY OFFICER'S MAMELUKE, 83.5cm curved fullered blade, sharpened for use, characteristic silver hilt finely chiselled with scrolling foliage, crescents, acanthus scrolls and geometric forms, two-piece ebonised grips secured by ovoid foliate rivets, contained in its silver mounted red velvet wrapped wooden scabbard decorated to match. Silver hallmarks are for 1825 and maker's stamp of ID AD - John and Archibald Douglas.
