Lot 40 of 459: A LATE 18TH CENTURY INDIAN FIRANGI OR SWORD, 88.5cm blade engraved with an inscription to the Mysore Armoury, characteristic chiselled and pierced hilt decorated with foliate and geometric designs and with traces of gold koftgari highlights, disc pommel with elongated curving spiked tang, contained in a later cloth covered scabbard. The interior of the hilt, which is possibly wootz damascus, with painted inventory number 264, minor damage to one quillon.
