AN 18TH CENTURY INDIAN LACQUERED LEATHER SHIELD, the 53cm convex body with turned rim and black lacquered finish, applied with an upper central embossed and pierced crescent form engraved with a geometric design and bearing traces of original gilt decoration, four further domed bosses arranged about the centre and decorated to match, the reverse with four anchor points and retaining their original cloth braces, both now detached at one end.
